Sales have gone off a cliff
My sales have decreased by well over 50% the last month and year. Account Health is fine and Amazon has nothing to offer in the way of an explanation. Inventory has increased significantly over the last year. Any insights anyone can offer greatly appreciated, since Amazon is unwilling or unable to offer answers.

It is called a recession this is why people are not spending money the bad economy is eating everyone spare cash. We have been in business for over 40 years. This is the worst we have seen in some years. Quick fix lower gas prices and many things will get cheaper. Many sellers will not make it till the end of this year if thing do not get better soon. Good luck to you and all sellers this year.

Data migration gone wrong. check the details of your listing. Read it very carefully. check the codes, skus bullets, description, title etc. make sure there is no shift or mismatch in the details. populate the fulfilment accurately. The search, as a grid, has been compromised. this is going to be a very difficult and long fix! The older the data the bigger the effect, since back then, we did not need this much data to list, and most of the newly required data is being created via AI, VERY badly.

Sorry to hear this. I know for us, we had incredible sales in 2020 and 2021 with all of the free money going around and everyone was off work. Then I noticed sales dropping going into mid to late 2022 adn into 2023. Now we hit late 2023 up until today and I 100% agree people are now tightening the belt and not spending money on frivolous items and its only going to get worse. Then on top of that, Amazon puts in these extra fees which is costing us 500%+ more to ship our product to Amazon so we are raising our prices 5%-15% now just to absorb those costs on our items under $30 which is most of them for us. Its the perfect storm....at least for a few years to come IMO.

Go to your Manage Inventory page and look at "Featured Offer Eligiiblity" column. Does it say Yes, or No? This is Buy Box Eligibililty.
Several book sellers have had their FOE switched to NO for no apparent reason. The only way to fix it seems to be to get a case started with Seller Support and come back here with the case number and get a MOD involved.

This is PURE PROPAGANDA, and is untethered from reality.
EVERY SINGLE accepted metric used to judge the Economy proves that not only is the U.S.A. Economy is fantastic condition, but it is the BEST performing Economy in the entire World..
HOWEVER...
I will agree that the consistent drumbeat from the right that the current administration is responsible for everything wrong with the world has certainly allowed for SOME people to be conned and made fearful. That is their job, after-all. They sell Kool-Aid. You just have to STOP drinking it.
What metric can you point to that would support your claim that we are in a "Recession"?

A few days almost a week before and during Easter the sales are down but they will come back.
From my experience, the main reason for lower sales is the competition that also may be sponsored. Look for another similar offer and try to adjust your offer.
"Adjust" is an inclusive word for, checking the price competitivity, diversifying your offer, bringing new products, improving your product, advertising if necessary, and many more..

Correct. This is why we cannot use these years as any true baseline for actual Sales.
I contend that 2024 SHOULD give most of us a fairly accurate baseline for yearly sales.
Good Luck to us All!

PHYSICAL MEDIA is dying! STREAMING is king! The economy is great with real wages up and inflation down so public can choose many streaming sources they could not afford previously! I got one for only $5/month that has so much to watch that I am interested in that I canceled AMAZON's overpriced PRIME! Plus after COVID WE ARE ALL SHOPPING IN BRICK AND MORTAR STORES again! Bottom line: if you are selling something that can be bought in a physical store, you are facing a cultural shift!

MARCH MADNESS is upon us. Though in prior years the final was played on the Monday after Final Four weekend, NCAA/ the TV producers are stretching it out till April 6,8th! This is also Easter Weekend, then TAX TIME. For most booksellers. mid March-to-late April is their worst time.
Last weekend was our off-the cliff -nuthin' till after 10 PM Sat. Sunday a little better, but not much. All our sales came Tues/Wed/Thurs evenings.
Bizarre-but we're grateful AMZ has finally removed the "No" from "Featured Offer Eligible" (OP, check yours) I have come to believe long-time sellers @Oneida_Books/@Maintak/ @Dogtamer[Moderator Edit: removed personal solicitations], who say that there are hidden metrics(so much for AMZ transparency) affecting how much we can sell and when....
