Question About Tax Information for Amazon Australia (ABN/VAT/GST Registration)
Hello everyone,
I am a US-based Amazon seller operating under a C-Corp structure. Recently, I expanded my business to Amazon Australia and began setting up my tax information for the Australian marketplace. I have a question regarding the tax documents and registration numbers required by Amazon Australia.
In the tax document section, I used my US Tax ID (EIN) to set things up, but when I got to the "Tax Information" section under ABN/VAT/GST Registration Numbers and RFC ID, I’m unsure whether I need to apply for an Australian ABN (Australian Business Number), VAT, or GST registration.
Since I’m based in the US, can I continue using my EIN, or do I need to apply for an ABN or other Australian-specific tax identification numbers to comply with local regulations?
I appreciate any insights or experiences from sellers who have gone through this process. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @Seller_tAsRWvXLF9JdJ
Connor from Amazon here, thank you for the post. While I am unable to provide specific tax advice, I have provided several resources below with more information on Amazon tax guidelines.
After review, if your question is still unanswered, I recommend that you create a case to Seller Support with your question and they can engage the Tax department.
Best,
Connor
