Question To Sell Baby Products

Hey Everyone,

So I am trying to sell baby products on amazon. This will be my second product that I am selling on amazon. I am aware that selling in the baby niche is gated. However, how do I check if I'm ungated so I can sell in the niched? When I try to 'add a product' under the niche that I am trying to sell in there is no lock icon. Does that mean I am ungated from the niche? Because I assume that if I were to try and sell a product that is gated I will be locked from it; requiring me to apply to sell in the niche.

Also, another question I have is, when do I show amazon my certifications? Would I show amazon when they ask for it? Meaning I would have to have all the certifications ready and available for once amazon ask me for them?

To answer your first question, there are categories, brands and specific products that require approval so our customers can shop with confidence here on Amazon. As you are aware, the baby products category is one of them.

I believe the help page for Products that require approval will help share some more guidance:

How can I tell if a product requires approval?

For existing products in our store, you can see if approval is required by searching for the product you want to list in Add a Product. Click Show limitations to view which approvals are required.

For new products not in our store, we recommend searching for similar products in Add a Product. Selling restrictions present for existing products similar to yours are likely to be present when you create your listing.

If you tried to add your products via a feed and received a listing error, use Add a product to view the approval requirements for the ASIN that returned the error.

To address your second question, you can upload your compliance documentation at any time. If you receive a request from us for compliance documents, complete the following steps to submit the requested information:

  1. In Seller Central, select the Performance tab and choose Account Health.
  2. Under Manage your compliance in the bottom right corner, click Product Compliance Requests.
  3. To add compliance or appeal for a single product, click Add/Appeal Compliance. To add compliance or appeal for multiple products, select each product on the left hand side of the product and click Action Selected Products at the top of the product requirement table to make a selection about how you would like to submit documents and information.
  4. Provide compliance documents and information in the Provide Documents section, or provide appeal information and documents in the Appeal Request section.
  5. Click Submit for Approval to send your submission for review by Amazon.
