Sent 56 items to Amazon; they claim they received only 1

We sent Amazon a shipment of 56 units via FBA and they claimed they only received 1 item in the shipment. We sent multiple forms of proof (including the weight of the outgoing package) but they kept denying us.

I recently reopened the case because it was brought to my attention that the inventory ledger can provide even further proof that the items were received and then lost and after checking my inventory ledger, this is confirmed; there is record of receiving these items on 12/05/22 and then unreceiving on 12/08/22.

However, when I reopened the case, they claimed they can't help me because the shipment was received over 9 months ago. The orginal case was opened within that time frame and dragged on for 3 months before I gave up. Now that I have even further evidence, I'm hoping they can own up and reimburse me for the lost items.

Hi @Seller_l9INMIWCrEMxv,

Dominic from Amazon here, happy to help. Even though an item is being shown as received in the inventory ledger this does not necessarily mean the item has been fully unpacked and all the units accounted for. If a box is intending to be transferred to another FC we will scan that box and send it through the system without unpacking it. When the item is received at its final destination FC that is when the units are unpacked and Sellers can reconcile their shipment.

I can see that this issue has been escalated just recently and the team provided the correct guidance as because the shipment is over 9 months old there is no solution we can provide.

Best,

Dominic

Once something similar happened to me. A box with 42 units appeared as delivered but was never checked in. I just created ONE case without any further intervention. There was never a satisfying answer from seller support. BUT, surprise: exactly one year later the system corrected things by itself and did credit me all the 42 units at the sales price. So, don't give up the hope, but don't loose your time searching NOW a positive outcome.

Here is some info that may be of use to you in the future. It won't help you with this case. I have learned, the hard way, that if you give Amazon any reason to deny you they will. I, like you, sent in a package of 33 items they were delivered, received, checked in at one location and then delivered at a second location. Then one morning they went missing. Inventory ledger goes to -33. I filed a claim and they asked for an invoice. I informed them they didn't need an invoice to find items in the warehouse. I never sent them the invoice as I was looking to find my inventory not reimbursement. After a month or 2, one morning, my 33 items just show up in my inventory. Someone must have found my box. A couple of the items sold that day. But the next day the remaining inventory was missing again. The inventory ledger was negative for the items and said "inventory ownership adjustment". Because I never gave them my invoice I lost ownership of my items, some how. But they knew they were mine because of seller sku they added them to my inventory and I sold a couple. But all of the sudden there's an ownership issue? If I had never filed the claim they would have just placed them back into my inventory. I have seen sellers on the foroums who send in the invoice and still get denied. So I have adopted a policy of NOT contacting Amazon. Just let the chips fall where they may. Contacting them won't help. But NEVER give Amazon a reason to make a decision against you.

This has been happening to us more and more lately, especially at the Charlotte NC FC. We used to be short (or extra) an item here or there. Now we are short on nearly every inbound, there are rarely "extras" to compensate.

Amazon has lost/confiscated inventory worth about $5000 in the past year and they have numerous ways to stall. The document ruse, where they ask for documents that may not exist (such as commercial invoices with Amazon Asins and quantities on them, which are insufficient for export in the countries I deal with) is one way. Another is to delay "investigation" so long that there is nothing to investigate. I warned them in advance about one recent shipment, where the supplier sent the wrong box, and even though I warned them, they refused to adopt the correct quantities and to scan in any extra items.

It's a problem: this is why we need better antitrust legislation.

Haven't had one of those in a few months knock on wood....But did have one where they said I sent 24 when only 22 fit inside the box so you can not just message them to tell them they are stupid and recount because they want you to provide invoices so what to do umm I guess I will take the free stuff that's what their customers do. But seriously it is SO STUPID Amazon does not look into this crap and many times they say wait 45 days it is because they hope you get busy and forget about it instead of taking action asap. Or are they just covering their sassasses on the employe theft and purposely disposal of items so they can dumpster dive after work. If only eBay had FBE and Walmart FBW we would not be here.

Welcome to Amazon. They stole 87 pairs of Samsung Earbuds from me. They miss counted by over 400, then recounted to be short. Then claimed all the pairs sent to one of their hubs didnt have Transparency codes on them. They wouldnt even return them, they disposed of them which means they stole them and sold them under Amazon Warehouse Deals. Just have your accountant or yourself write it off. Thats about the only thing you can do.
