Customer returns a $2,000 item 6 months later to FBA as "Extra item" gets full refund

Hello,

Order ID 702-7981492-5389818

Customer Purchased the $2,000 espresso machine on Dec 4th, 2023, and returned it May 25th as "Extra Item", and just got a general adjustment full refund from customer service.

This is ridiculous, how can Amazon do this at our expense? The buyer clearly abused the return process by returning under false reasons, 5 months past the return window, and we have to take the fall for it?

Please assist - take the item and sell it as Amazon warehouse deals, and give us our money back. Amazon is way too loose with our money.

While Amazon does reserve the right to allow some returns beyond the 30 day return window, this return was clearly not authorized by anyone, it was returned under false pretenses then demanded a refund as the item was already returned.

Please help - we should not be liable for this and the buyer should be flagged for this behavior.

I understand that FBA can be attractive but for me it is very simple ... Anything Over 200$, I handle myself (FBM). I don't trust Amazon to handle my returns.
