Who repay the taxes for the federal and provincial gouverement ?

my accountant would like to understand how I have to pay my taxes on each product sold on amazon.ca

Does amazon pay the federal government and also each province by itself?

I see that in my payment pass the amount that I was paying is only my net sales without the addition of taxes.

I'm really lost how I should function to be sure to pay my taxes.

I am a seller from Quebec!

Thank you for you help and support!

Provincial sales tax for BC, SK and MB are collected by amazon and paid to those governments directly. Sellers do not need to do anything for those sale taxes.

Are you registered to collect GST/HST or QST?

If you are not registered (because your sales are under the required limits), then amazon will deal with sales tax under marketplace rules and the Seller is not involved.

If you are registered to collect sales tax, then you need to provide your tax registration numbers to Amazon. Amazon will collect and then pass the sales tax money for the Seller to handle. Seller is responsible for GST/HST and QST filings.

As Amazon keeps insisting that ALL customers are THEIR customers and as such, phone numbers and addresses are removed from the files after some time. So ... I manage the tax structure as if I was selling to a reseller, I charge GST/HST on the Sales dollar less their take/fees. As I am in Ontario, I do NOT charge PST as they are the reseller.

If for some reason, people think this is wrong, then I will handle it when I get audited. As at that time, I would have a case against the fact that AMAZON is my reseller and the customers are NOT mine as I cannot contact them and/or sell direct as per Amazon's policy. I follow the rules that have been set out.

All sellers should remember, they only have ONE customer and that is Amazon as their distributor. To think of it any other way is ludicrous. If we were selling direct to these customers and charging taxes etc. Then why is Amazon holding the funds if they are ours. Please note the funds are ours when Amazon says they are. They are our distributor and our ONLY customer on the platform. They pay OUR invoices if/and when they see fit. The end user pays before shipping - to Amazon, not to us.

Amazon collects and remits tax on your behalf for all FBA orders (fulfilled by amazon orders).

They charge you a fee in order to do this for you. There is no other option at this moment.

For all fulfilled by merchant (you ship it out on your own) orders, tax is paid out to you and you then must remit these taxes accordingly to federal and provincial systems.

This is just from my understanding I am not an accountant!
