That is normal. It goes to wherever the product is in the most demand.

The warehouse in Edmonton is for oversized items. If your items are oversized, you can be patient and check to see if it gets switched to another warehouse. That will cost your time since that rotation is slow and depends on what is happening at the other warehouses. Some are backed up and future shipments will select other warehouses. Additionally, since most of the country is served out of the Ontario warehouses, most items will need to be shipped to those warehouses. So, even if you did get the Alberta warehouse, most of your products will get reshipped to Ontario resulting in most of them not being available for another week or more.

Amazon’s UPS rates are very attractive (75% discount from retail rates), so the costs are not substantial.

LTL freight rates really depend on your negotiation ability, but beware that scheduling deliveries can be challenging. Most of the weekday daytime appointments are taken a couple weeks in advance and most LTL carriers charge extra for evening and weekend deliveries and for storage in depots waiting for a future delivery date. Those additional costs can be higher than the freight rate.
