NEED TO BE EXCLUDED FROM FREE RETURN

we sell footwears on amazon and during the years amazon keep changing the rules and they start forcing 3rd party sellers to offer free returns, the candy they offered was that the return shipping would be trough amazon shipping with subsidized shipping , and now , we see huge adjustment on the return shipping , adjusting the prices to the regular shipping price, footwear in general have a high return rate , since fitting is critical, if we add to this the fact that amazon do not fix incorrect listing with the reason that only the listing owner can fix it, create the return ratio even larger (see my case about Birkenstock, over 40% of the listings are incorrect) now we noticed that the products that we selling , some sellers are being excluded from the free return, contacting amazon support is drooping needle in the ocean

in general i think that amazon should allow sellers to no offer free return , and just make it clear in thire listing that this specific seller do not offer free return , and let the buyer to make a decision if they wish to purchase or not

if you think about it , a shoe that being sold on amazon for $100 the seller pay $55 , pay freight around $12~ pay amazon fee $15 , end up with $18 profit (excluding the operation of employees etc..) return rate is 25-30% , so on return we pay the return shipping + 3% return fee, you end up losing money,

so recently i see more and more sellers that thire listing are not with free return for the same products

if anyone can let me know, what are the criteria to get excluded from the FEE RETURN program, would be appreciate it

i noticed here, that some people reply with comments like, "if you cant offer free return , sell different type of products" etc.. , i am totally awear of this fact, and thank you for your concern, but i sell shoes for the past 32 years , so this what i know

thank you in advance

Im told to reopen a safeT claim and then Amazon says they cant be reopened. I have over 100 5.00 plus charges to my bill in the last 6 weeks. Amazons reply OH WELL!!!! we need to have this investigated. Amazon doesnt have a billing dept. This seems odd....Is there anything we can do. at this rate I will be out of business before the end of the year...

You can request exemptions from prepaid return labels only for SKUs in the following categories: :

High Price Items: High-valued items (price exceeding $100) that need special shipping (for example, items that require special shipping insurance)

The price and condition of exempted SKUs must be comparable to listings for the same ASIN across Amazon. Only active SKUs are eligible for exemptions from prepaid return labels. View the status of your SKUs in Seller Central by going to the Inventory drop-down and selecting Manage Inventory.

Important: SKU exemptions for prepaid return labels do not apply to Seller Fulfilled Prime items. Seller Fulfilled Prime in-policy returns will receive an Amazon prepaid label. For details, go to Product Shipping and Return Policies for Seller Fulfilled Prime.

Hi @Seller_y0z1Z0pLxLprG,

Danny from Amazon here, and I'd like to help if possible.

This page has an overview of this, which states:

"Refund at First Scan is mandatory for Fulfilment by Amazon and merchant-fulfilled sellers as part of our efforts to offer a consistent and seamless customer returns experience."

I would also direct you to this page on free returns, where you can learn how to manage your free return settings, offer them for specific skus, learn about exemption status or any FAQs.

Please let me know if this helps!

Best,

Danny
