How do I sell a branded product

I'm a new seller on Amazon. There is a branded product that I want to sell. It does require approval. I was given the names of three wholesale distributors by the manufacturer. As I understand it, I'd have to purchase the product from the distributor, have an invoice from that distributor, and then submit to Amazon for approval to sell. Then I learn that not all applications are being accepted or approved. My question is: Why would I have to purchase a large quantity of a branded product just to be able to apply for approval to sell that product on Amazon with no certainty that I will be approved? It doesn't sound like a smart business move. Am I missing something?? Can I apply for a pre-approval so I can feel comfortable buying this product from the distributor and then be able to provide all of the required documentation? Please help me to understand this. There are already 11 sellers of this item.

Hello @Seller_2LXaelMUfig3r,

My name is Dougal from the Community Manager Team and I understand your hesitation for a big order before you have the approval to sell. In addition to several other specific things, the unit amount purchased on the invoice you submit only needs a minimum of 10 units. So you could purchase those initial 10, obtain approval and then purchase more.

If the Brand is already enrolled in Amazon Brand Registry, additional requirements are required, but the Brand Owner can provide you access on their own using the THIS guide.

For reference, all invoice requirements and the process for submitting a selling application for both a brand, product or category are reviewed in the Apply to sell a product, category, or brand Seller University video.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Best, Dougal
