Do we need to register for a Canadian GST/HST account??
We seem to be getting conflicting answers on this. We’re an American company that ships goods to Amazon FBA Canada warehouses and sells these goods on the Amazon Canada marketplace.
Our sales volume in Canada is low and won’t likely pass $30K (CAD) in revenue any time soon or maybe even ever. It seems that we do need to register for a Canadian “Business Number” as this is used in the importing process. But we’re seeing conflicting information about whether we need to register for a Canadian GST/HST account.
We’re a small business with limited resources, so we want to avoid having to do any more administrative work then necessary, like filing taxes with foreign governments. Any advice is appreciated.

Not required. There are benefits to be registered, but if you want to keep things simple, you do not need to register for sales tax (GST/HST) until you get near $30k in sales
