Competitive External Price?

Is the competitive external price simply because Amazon wants to be perceived as the lowest price online? They have to know with their high fees that it's easy for someone to sell lower on their direct-to-consumer website (we do). Adding to the issue, they will use a competitive external price that does not include the additional charges a customer will have once they get to the checkout on these external sites, such as shipping. I know they know this, it's Amazon, or am I naive and they have let their web scraping run with no oversight? I hope this doesn't last.

This has been an issue for as long as Amazon has been doing price checking and is not likely to go away.

One solution that has worked in the past is to actually RAISE the price on your website eliminating the difference. It takes a day or so for Amazon to catch up.

If you raise the price on the website you might find 'creative' ways to save buyers there some money by using X% off for purchases over X dollars which the Amazon BOTS would never be able to figure out (at this point).

The other possibility is to be sure you put in min/max prices in the inventory details. Sometimes that works as well.
