We Are Leaving Amazon: A Manifesto Against Injustice Toward Small Sellers
Our patience has worn thin. The increasing number of fraudulent customers and Amazon’s persistently biased stance against sellers have left us with no choice but to abandon the platform entirely.
As an individual entrepreneur, I joined Amazon with the simple aim of earning supplementary income. However, looking back on this one-year journey, what remains is nothing but financial loss. And at the heart of that loss lies a troubling combination: dishonest buyers and Amazon’s unrealistic, unjust A-to-Z Guarantee Policy.
We deliver products promptly and accurately. Yet some customers bypass the return process and file A-to-Z claims instead—most commonly citing “item not received.” Despite uploading clear Proof of Delivery documents, Amazon sides with the buyer and deducts the item’s value from our account.
What’s even more absurd is that many of these Proof of Delivery files include the buyer’s own signature. In other words, the product was not only delivered but also signed for by the customer. Still, Amazon chooses to ignore this blatant fraud and punishes the seller.
As a small investor, I have suffered losses amounting to nearly $3,000—at least $2,000 of which can be directly attributed to fraudulent buyers. I am exhausted from funneling every ounce of profit into covering the damages caused by deceitful customers. My earnings are no longer sufficient to cover the gap, and I now find myself financing the losses from personal savings. The sole reason for this is Amazon’s policy framework, which effectively enables fraud.
Therefore, I am officially ending my journey as an Amazon seller. I am now redirecting my efforts toward businesses where honest work is rewarded. Amazon has lost a trustworthy seller—and is left to deal with its own flawed systems and dishonest buyers.
This is a firm warning to individual sellers and small business owners: stay away. You can deliver a hundred successful orders, only for one fraudulent buyer to wipe out your entire profit—and worse, put you in debt.
As of today, I am no longer an Amazon seller, nor will I remain a customer. I refuse to be part of this broken system. And if you are just getting started, I strongly urge you to walk away while you still can.
Sincerely.
