Calculating Return Amount for Products Matching Descriptions, But Misaligned in Size with Customers: How to Proceed?
Hello everyone,
I'm a new seller on Amazon, and I recently encountered an issue with a customer's order. Last month, I received my very first order, but the customer contacted me directly to inform me that they had a size issue with the item they received. However, the size they ordered matched the size I sent to him/her, not to mention I have size chart on my listing page.
The customer expressed their desire to exchange the item for a different size and immediately placed an order for the correct size. I agreed to accept the return of the original item but informed the customer that they would be responsible for the shipping costs. It's important to note that I didn't specifically mention who would cover the actual shipping costs.
Here are the details of the transaction: The customer purchased the item for $100, and there was an additional $13 for tax, making the total amount paid $113. I offer free shipping, so the customer didn't incur any shipping charges for their initial purchase. However, as an individual seller, Amazon deducted $13 for tax and charged me $12 as a fee. Additionally, I paid $16.02 for shipping the item to the customer.
I have authorized the customer's return, but I haven't received the product back yet. It's worth noting that customers have a 30-day window to return their items, so I'm not in a hurry to receive it.
Now, my question is this: The customer paid $113 for the product, which I will receive as a return. However, my account balance currently shows $72, which accounts for the shipping costs and Amazon fees. How much should I refund the customer once I receive the returned product?
Product was also listed under handmade category.
I appreciate any guidance or advice on this matter. Thank you.
