Advice for Working with Seller Support to get ASIN approved for Advertising

I make and sell decorative gun safes. I have a sponsored product campaign running with some of my products and attempted to add a new addition from our catalog to the campaign. The product was "not approved". I contacted seller support to ask for it to be re-moderated and they have repeatedly denied.

I submitted a link to and provided a highlighted screen shot of the published Amazon sponsored product and brand policy showing where Gun Safes are permitted. See below.

I asked for clarification and they confirmed my product is classified as a gun safe but said that gun safes are not permitted for advertising in the US. They then provided the section of the policy that highlights products in the category that are only permitted in the US. The top part of the policy highlights permitted products globally while the second part of the policy highlights permitted products in the US only. I have tried to clarify that for them but am getting nowhere. Anyone have any advice for how to handle this?

Hi @Seller_hVvESofoz38aX,

This can sometimes be a confusing area for advertising as weapon accessories (e.g. a gun safe) could fall under the prohibited category.

I'd like to get more information about your case specifically though. Can you tell me if you sent your query to Seller Support orAds Support? And would you mind sharing the case ID and ASIN in question? If you would prefer to keep those last two items private, I can open a private messaging case for us.

Also, without seeing your ASIN or campaign, I wanted to be sure to highlight this section of the help article you posted:

"If an ad for sports and outdoor products contains images or videos of weapons, the ad must not show the weapon or accessory in use and must not include products that are unrelated or superfluous to the product promoted. For example, an ad for a gun holster must not feature a combat knife.

Images or videos in ads promoting weapon accessories must:

  • Focus on the weapon accessory and not the weapon itself.
  • Not show the weapon in use, or about to be used (for example, an ad for a gun holster cannot feature the gun drawn, or in the act of being drawn)."

I've noticed that when certain approved accessories get denied it could be due to an actual weapon being depicted with the product.
