What is goin on with Shipping to FBA?
7 months ago I shipped 420 cases (4 pallets) to Amazon warehouses and it cost me LTL $300 total through Amazon.
Now I'm trying to ship 2 pallets and Amazon wants to charge me $800!!!
Same product, same ship from location.
Anyone else experiencing crazy freight rates?
Did something change with inbound shipments and I'm doing something wrong here?

Full disclosure -- this is just one of the reasons that I do NOT do FBA.
Even I knew this was coming since it was announced quite some time ago AND there have been probably a dozen or more threads about it both before and after it went into effect.

It sounds as if you have spent almost no time at all on the Forum and reading the 'news'.
On Amazon it is ESSENTIAL that you spend some time every day on their news announcements (such as the one above) and the Forum to see what land mines you are about to step on.

This will tell you all about the new 2024 fees for FBA, including the new Inbound Placement Service. Which I'm guessing is what you are seeing.
If you ship to multiple locations, you're suppose to get a discount on shipping.
If you choose to ship to one location, it will cost you more.
Hope this helps :)

amazon has become an absolute trash platform. thats whats going on.

We have seen the exact same thing. Even if you exclude the placement fee our freight rates have increased by 250-300 percent. pallets used to cost us $200, now they are about $600. I have been finding independent (non-amazon) freight to be much cheaper, as the freight industry in general is getting cheaper. It does take more to manage private freight but the cost savings are making it worth it.

I just wish they would share how many units/boxes I need to send to avoid the fee. The only guidance they give is to add more items/boxes. I need real numbers.

You're now forced to either absorb the placement fee or avoid the placement fee by shipping to multiple far-away FCs. Either way it costs me 600% more. I'm surprised Amazon raised the cost by 600% all in one day because it's going to put a lot of 3rd party sellers out of business. Should have increased it over the course of several years.

somebody in Amazon went crazy,
you send goods --> Inbound placement fee
you send more quantity --> you pay LTSF Long Term Storage Fee
you send less quantity --> low-inventory-level fee
plus Storage fee
plus commission
plus return placement fee
I request somebody in Amazon to reply if they really SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESS or not ?
ACTIONS SPEAK OTHERWISE

Their long term goal IMHO is to make us into the US TEMU. Squeeze the US based merchants.

Good afternoon @Seller_JbYiIhzZVNoAn, and thank you for your question!
Thank you for sharing your candid feedback, and opening a place for other sellers to discuss the experience. I do want to note that while that Inbound Placement fee launched, a fee decrease is going live on the same day as the first Inbound Placement charge. From the News fee announcement:
"On average, we will decrease FBA fulfillment fee rates for standard-sized products by $0.20 per unit and for Large Bulky-sized products by $0.61 per unit. These fees will apply starting April 15, 2024, the same date that the first inbound placement fees will begin to be charged. Products priced below $10 will continue to have an additional $0.77 discount on per-unit fees. Go to the FBA fulfillment fee rates page for more details."
Please let me know if you have additional thoughts or feedback and I will be happy to share them internally.
