How do replacements work?

I always get replacements for people when they contact me and tell me that the product was damaged. Recently, I refunded an order and then I realized that Amazon placed a replacement on behalf of the person and we sent a replacement. Now we lost the money and the product. Does Amazon automatically place the replacements as orders when the buyer requests a replacement?

Yes a replacement order will look like a regular order except the price of the order will be ZERO.

We tend to just cancel replacement orders and process the return normally and let the customer just place a new order.

Always go to Manage Returns, and look for the Replacement Requested Logo on each return request so you do not refund them!

Amazon will send the order through only when the buyer dropped off their return, and a scan is shown. If they do not return it, then don't issue a refund. I believe they have 7 days to return it for a replacement. If they don't return it within the 7 days then the replacement request is closed, and you'll see the order as cancelled. If that happens, then you can refund them once you receive the return. If they did return it and the replacement request was cancelled then go ahead and refund, but always check to see if they cancelled the replacement request so you don't ship and refund the customer.

I never send a replacement because I know there's no way it was damaged or not in the box, or whatever their lame, lying excuse is. And I most certainly do not send the wrong item, either. They can return and I will refund and then they can repurchase. They NEVER return, because the request was only an attempt to get something for free and it appears when they give up on me they just move on to you, who sends the replacement. Don't send replacements. Request a return.

That's exactly why you should not send replacements, because of this type of problem. Return the label and refund, that's the default way to go. However, in some cases, you may decide to send a replacement, depending on the situation, the product, and the customer.

When a customer received a "damaged" product, they get another one for free. On no other marketplace does any customer receive a damaged product, only here.

The buyer chooses from Retun or Replacement, don't they? But I'm not a fan of the process. I've had too many buyers think that they don't have to return the damaged item and let that Replacement Order stay open until it expires. In my opinion it creates a mess as it isn't explained well on the returns page.

If you're going to make on here though, you do need to stop immediately reacting to messages and make sure to follow the proper steps. If you don't you will be broke very soon. .
