Professional Seller Account required to have Amazon Seller Insurance
Hello,
I have a question regarding how flexible Amazon Seller insurance requirement is if your sales take a plunge.
I have carried commercial seller insurance for years now. This was when my sales were steady. I had one big sales month that Christmas of 2020 for over $10,000 which triggered the requirement. Ever since then my sales started to dwindle and slow down to the point of me considering does it make sense to pay for Amazon commercial insurance in 2024? My sales have fallen drastically and not even close to $10,000. According to Amazon seller policy it states: Commercial liability insurance will protect you from incidents resulting from the products you sell, and give you peace of mind while you focus on growing your business. Under section 9 of the Amazon Services Business Solutions Agreement, you must obtain and maintain commercial liability insurance within 30 days after exceeding USD 10,000 in gross proceeds in sales in one month on Amazon.com, or if otherwise requested by us.
I called Amazon the Amazon help desk, and the agent I spoke too did not seem to have an answer.
I also read that Amazon will consider exceptions to these requirements on a case-by-case basis if you are unable to secure a policy that meets these requirements. For more information about our requirements, go to Frequently Asked Questions section in the Business Insurance page.
My inquiry is does Amazon waive and allow a seller to sell without insurance as a professional seller if sales are slim to none? Or is there a recommendation that I maybe downgrade my account to an individual account? And does an individual account have the same requirements? Any suggestions and help would be much appreciated!

Like almost everything on Amazon a search of the Forum will yield a definite MAYBE/MAYBE NOT answer for you.
There have been reports of sellers letting insurance lapse and never hearing from Amazon. The opposite is true as well.
There are a couple of threads on that OTHER seller Forum about this with no consensus there.
People have received 'reminders' and then no follow-up even if it has expired.
Mine is renewing and I have NOT gotten my other sales sites up to the point I can get rid of it IF Amazon decides to actually enforce the rule which does NOT say it ever goes away!
Your account, your risk!
