Shipping Costs on Heavy Items
I am a FBM hardware seller, Selling bolt bins and Fasteners. I am having a hard time setting up my shipping. If I am selling from Ontario, suppose I put a shipping cost of 15 bucks and I got 1st order from 2 hours away from my warehouse in Ontario and it costs me 30 dollars of shipping, I lost 15 bucks that's fine, tomorrow I got an order from British Columbia and it costs me 150 dollars of shipping to ship my skid size product to BC, I lost 135 dollars, In shipping templates, I cannot put different shipping cost in different provinces. I have no idea how to figure that thing out, there's gotta be something!! People are selling pools on Amazon, huge sizes, Selling Couches, etc and It says free shipping !! There's gotta be something :( please help me out

You gotta bake the cost of shipping into the product price. With the exception of the 3 northern territories, you have to have an equal shipping cost across the country for all customers in all provinces.

Shipping out west, get ready to lose, and lose big. Depending on who you ship with. The line they have drawn on a map makes 1 hour outside Edmonton $124, 5 min the other side of that line $25.00. Makes no sense.
Another carrier, would do that $124 shipment for $30.00 but they aren't a trusted carrier even though they are on the list of available carriers when entering tracking numbers. So you have to limit their use to save money so you aren't going below the 95% VTR.
Best advise, build in more shipping into you're 'Free Freight'.

Hi. You can create multiple shipping templates and assign specific products to those various templates. Might need to be a pro seller. Just be careful when uploading/adding or editing items if you use multiple templates so they don't change to your default template.
Go to shipping settings and click the drop down next to edit template at top right. Or search for "Assign SKUs to shipping templates" in help.
Hope it helps.

Why aren't you selling FBA? Your orders will increase by 400-500%

I highly suggest anyone looking for good rates on shipping check out quotes from CLICKSHIP (Freight Com) and ask for Suzanne, they are a Canadian shipping company that pools rates from all courier and LTL. This changed so much for us and cut our costs significantly when shipping. But be weary not to use ICS courier as they are not supported with Amazon and will hurt your VTR. I actually got their information from another thread and it changed our store ability to sell millions now.

Try offering Expedited shipping for orders within your province and set the shipping cost at $30, then set the Regular shipping cost higher so those outside of your province will only be able to select the higher-priced Regular shipping option when they buy.
