Coin Battery Compliance Requirements

Hello,

I am writing here because I'm significantly frustrated with the Amazon compliance requirements for listing a product. The product contains a coin battery. I have provided documentation from the supplier. GCC, UL4200A, Inspection Documents etc.

I have applied the correct labeling to my product and submitted photos showing the labeling.

My product has now been ready to sell but in compliance limbo for 6 months while I continued to try and get approved to sell this particular product. I wish there was more transparency between Amazon and sellers on exactly what they need to move forward. Or even reliable Amazon support to provide feedback regarding what is required and any possible nuances to each step.

I have done so much reading and have at this point had to do experiments to see what Amazon will approve. With each submittal taking weeks, only to receive miniscule, vague, and general feedback to why it was denied. So far my hypothesis is they won't approve anything, no matter what you send them.

Amazon helpers please tell me how to proceed.

Good Evening @Seller_2KfXiKuNDCihP,

I see that you have 2 cases for Coin Button Cell Battery:

The CASE ID ending in 4071 on behalf of ASIN ending in GXQD from May 1st, 2024 says the reason for denial is:

  • The GCC submitted is contains inaccurate information.

To move forward with the approvals process for your product, please resubmit the document with the following updated information:

  • Product description or product identifier (ASIN/model/style/part number) enabling us to make an accurate determination that the certificate is issued for the correct product
  • Amazon cannot be listed as Importer of Record (IOR)

CASE ID ending in 6041 on behalf of ASIN ending in 2P7S from May 1st, 2024 says the reason for denial is:

  • Test reports from an ISO 17025-accredited laboratory showing that the product meets ANSI/UL 4200A, as per regulation 16 CFR 1263 (Standard for Safety for Products Incorporating Button Batteries or Coin Cell Batteries);
  • Images showing product model/item number, relevant safety information, compliance markings, hazard warnings, and all sides of the product packaging;
  • Product images as evidence of compliance with the following: Precautionary labeling statement requirements (Public Law 117-171) AND Reese’s Law Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPR) on labelling of consumer product button cell or coin batteries

I wanted to provide some additional help pages that may clarify the compliance information required when listing coin battery ASINs:

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the information shared above. Hope you have a lovely weekend.

Sincerely, Cooper_Amazon

Hi!

I recently made a post about this and I was able to have success in getting some of my listings approved. I received this template from someone who has a contact within Amazon. So far this has been working for me in getting my listings approved but you will also have to make sure to add the battery details in all of your product descriptions and make sure to include the product photos within the document that shows the warning labels and any necessary labels. I know this process has been incredibly frustrating for many sellers so I hope this helps!
