Why is Amazon holding me responsible for a chargeback?

A buyer filed a chargeback against us. We responded to the claim. The order showed delivered and shipping was paid for through Amazon. The buyer never contacted us in any way and never opened a return. These are Amazon's customers. Why and how am I responsible for this?

The same thing just happened to me, I win the first chargeback, the second, no notification, the two of the shows that I'm not responsible for the chargeback them months later suddenly I'm responsible and amazon charged me. HOWEVER I discover amozon it's the reason for that, they sent me by mistake the email they send to the customer that make a re-dispute an literaly tell them "To correct this problem, we have asked your card issuer to close the dispute in your favor." This is the representation amazon is giving to the seller and there's no way to appeal it. The customer get the Item free and a full refund. This is fraud!

Hello @Seller_EPjeiJ2rn0lZB,

A chargeback occurs when a cardholder contacts their bank to dispute the charge for an order placed on Amazon. Amazon responds to the card issuer with information only the seller can provide regarding the communications between the buyer and seller about the transaction and tracking used for the order. The Amazon Services Business Solutions Agreement outlines the following information:

  • You are responsible for chargebacks filed against your account for service-related reasons, such as non-receipt of the product.
  • Amazon is responsible for any payment-related fraud chargebacks, such as stolen credit cards or other payment fraud attempts.
