Generic listing error on non-generic listing with actual brand associated with listing - error 5885
We are looking at trying to sell the following ASIN : B0BSHDCLM4 ...
When we try to add the listing to our products, we get error 5885, which means that we cannot sell on someone else's "GENERIC" listing.
The puzzling thing is... this is NOT a generic listing. It is actually a branded listing...
No biggie, right? Try upload file! Nop, still give me "GENERIC" listing issue.
OK, open a case with SS! ... Case generator asks me for picture of the product.
This is backwards. I'm not gonna buy a product, just so I can take a picture of it and prove that it's not GENERIC when the listing itself has a brand associated with it. What is this?
I opened a case either way and I get the following answer:

So the agent did not understand at all what I was saying.
The listing is broken as it "identifies" as a "GENERIC" but it is clearly "BRANDED" ... and SS is asking me to prove that it is GENERIC... so again backwards.
If a mod could send this to someone that can fix this, it would be appreciated.

This is Christine from Amazon Forums.
I was checking the issue with the ASIN and the sku and the most recent submission which gives you the error code 5885.
I do apologize for the inconvenience you had on the case ending in 4481.
Now, I do see the issue that Selling Partners, who are not on ASIN's allow-list, will receive this error code in their feeds or in Seller Central for 1x1 listing creation when they try to update product data, add variation or add offer for enrolled ‘Generic’ ASINs.
You can create a new ASIN for a product by following the process outlined in the Add a Product tool to create listing one by one and Add Products via Upload, for bulk listings.
