Could this be a new buyer scam?
Hi there.
I’m wondering if I’m looking at a new scam variation that Amazon isn’t quite aware off, it’s happening a lot in the last few weeks.
I will call it: ‘UPS shipments supposably not delivered!’
Here is the repeat indicator:
Two weeks after delivery customer claims package did not arrive and wants a refund. Emails are surprisingly similar.
Delivery name and contact name are different, usually delivery name is male, contact name is female. They all show delivered by UPS.
This far I fended all these off by sending them to file an A-Z claim and all have been approved.
However, I had a case this summer where I actually created an Amazon case, that guy did about 15 orders to the same address an same delivery name with 15 different buyer names all female.
I reported him and the orders quit coming.
In any case, I have decided that with a different delivery/buyer name combination I’ll pay for a ‘signature required’ fee. Although I know the UPS drivers are guilty of faking them.
I haven’t been damaged, just concerned…
Thanks

Hi @Seller_xChY9wAo7PTVr
Dominic from Amazon here, thank you for the detailed overview. I am glad that working through the A-Z Claim process has gotten these sorted out for you. Have you created a case with Seller Support informing them of this?
Best,
Dominic

We have had this happen, same thing buyer name is different than the delivery name and 2 weeks after delivery they claimed it wasn't delivered. All were for the same SKU, while we didn't have as many as you at once we had 6 within 2 weeks time for the same SKU. Like you, the messages claiming they didn't receive it have were nearly identical. Delivery addresses were all different perhaps a drop shipper with multiple Amazon accounts and trying to not pay for what they ordered? I don't know for sure but we did report them all.

Yeah, they seem to target new buyers like me. I got 3-4 like these and sent them right away to A to Z. I believe they assume new sellers don't want to get bad feedbacks and they might not know about a to z so they would just refund. Little did they know I used to work for a big Amazon seller and pretty knowledgeable dealing with this.

Yes, I also have 'form letter' I send as a reply. Straight to A-Z claim.
However, I found it impossible to report these buyers. Amazon just sends me around, created a case, they send me to report abuse. The abuse team or better the AI in charge says there is no abuse.

I received an order on another platform for (11) items to be shipped to this address. UPS showed all (11) items delivered to the address. Then, ten days later, the buyer states that they only received (9). I told them that UPS scanned & delivered (11) and that if the items were shipped to another place other than the original address that it wasn't my issue.
Be wary of this address. Document, document, document (aka: protect yourself)

Same thing happens to us. Name of account never matches the ship to name. We also have UPS pictures of the item sitting on the porch that matches Google images of the home, AMAZON DOES NOTHING FOR US SELLERS. Tired of the run around, the lies, the BS, SOLVE THE PROBLEM WITH SCAMMERS. Now we're all out our items and Money.
If you google the ship to names, we have found many no longer live at that address, but have in the past, some are dead, most are elderly.
Not sure what the scam in exactly. I don't believe they are drop shipping from other platforms, the person never ordered it to begin with.
I've heard it's possibly just to increase their own feedback/ratings. PRETTY FRICKING COSTLY FEEDBACK TO US SELLERS WHEN AMAZON ALWAYS SIDES WITH THE SCAMMER.
We have tagged numerous mods in the past, they just go private with your messages, then ghost you. LOVELY PARTNERS.

Yes! not only that, many just files A-Z claim as item not received, automatically free stuff, in the past I disputed, provided tracking number, mentioned that I purchase shipping using Amazon system and provide a link where Amazon said we as a seller are protected, usually I won the cases but not anymore, Amazon is not fallow their own policy, if any mod want my cases I will be more than happy to provide it, Amazon need to work with sellers and fallow Amazon own rules

I'm frustrated that UPS can't provide delivery confirmation photos like FedEx does. This would offer solid proof of delivery and help reduce misunderstandings and disputes.
