Will Amazon consider Canada Post strike in VTR calculation and granting A-to-Z claims? Or it gonna be another messy holidays season for small businesses?
Will Amazon consider Canada Post strike in VTR calculation and granting A-to-Z claims? Or it gonna be another messy holidays season for small businesses?
They haven't come out and announced anything yet.
It won't affect VTR calculation (as the tracking is valid), however would affect your On Time Delivery Rate.
A to Z claims at this time will still allow the customers to file for one after the latest delivery date until Amazon announces something.
We contacted Amazon seller support and they have no idea about Canada Post strike. After explaining them for half of hour, we gave up. Later we received an email from support, "After investigating I found the following information according to the issue you are presenting. "Carrier on Strike", We do not offer exemptions for LSR as expected ship dates are adjusted for national holidays. National holidays do not count as operating days when determining your expected ship date., Inclement weather: We do not exempt orders that were shipped late due to weather. Sellers are expected to monitor weather conditions and communicate with their partnered carriers. If a seller expects a carrier needs additional time to pick up their orders due to potential weather, the seller can increase their handling time."
In short: Amazon doesn't care about the sellers.
Yup, so rural Canada is going to be the ones most affected by this strike.
Oh just a tip, in my shipping rules I turned off all PO Box checkboxes.
As they are typically only delivered by Canada Post and may or may not even be open.
Really amazon should do this automatically due to the strike.
You also have to realize, like any other international business they don't pay to much attention what is happening in Canada.
Hello @Seller_9YP7YHagiaxYP,
Thank you for reaching out on the Forums.
Currently, I do not have any official guidance about this situation. This is being researched.
If this does affect your metrics, I would guide you to create a case with exactly what happened in your account. If you have a current example, could you provide a case ID? I could review and maybe help resolve it.
I truly hope this will be resolved soon (the strike) and it does not affect your account. Thank you for reaching out on the Forums. The Forums and I are here to support you.

I just checked my VTR report, and I do not have any Canada Post shipments, even my stuck in transit ones on the report.
Did you get a pickup scan from Canada Post into their warehouse?
That's a good one lol
If you punched it in on the confirm shipment screen as "Express Post", that is probably why. It is supposed to be put in as "Xpresspost", all one word to be recognized by Amazon's system. "Express Post" is not a valid Canada Post shipping service.
That's exactly right.
For those who were selling back in October of 2018 of, Canada post was on strike back than as well, remember every 4 years Union does this. Amazon didn't care back in 2018, why would they care in 2024. Come on guys, are you guys pulling my leg here :)
I love how others are saying, use other carriers. Only Canada Post Delivers everywhere in Canada. None of other carriers can do that. All other carriers have agreements with Canada Post to pass your parcels to them for final leg of delivery. Instead of choosing other carrier, perhaps, and I'm just spit balling here, you would support Canada Post, instead all other carriers. Which only choose major cities, and locations that are convenient for them to deliver your parcel.
Yes as some said turn off rural and PO boxes in your shipping templates. But Purolator said they wont deliver Canada Post parcel from day one.
