YXU1 London FBA Opening Oct 1 / Amazon's FBA FC Map
Hello fellow sellers.
According to recent press, the newest FBA fulfillment centre will come online October 1st, located south of London.
It's a giant @ 2 million square feet. That makes it only second to YOW3-Barrhaven (2.6 mil sq ft) in the country. The largest GTA fulfillment centres are 1 million. Currently under construction are new sites in Belleville and Cambridge.
Canada Post is offering free shipments each Tuesday in October to members of their small business program (only up to 5 KG). TIP: You can enter in the new centre's address and get a free shipping label and then use it at a later time. Also, I believe that YYZ9-Scarborough is now back online... I had some inventory migrate over just the other day.
It seems that Amazon FBA is betting big on Ontario... with these new massive robotic FBA sites, they're scaling back on the smaller existing sites such as YUL2, and YVR2 & YVR3. None of my inventory has made it to YOW1 in months: perhaps it's being divested..
I'm a bit surprised to see that they never went big anywhere in Quebec: the gigantic YOW3-Barrhaven appears to be the Eastern bastion that will service (along with the rest of the Ontario FCs) Quebec and Atlantic Canada. That's a lot of eastward-moving product every morning...perhaps there was political or linguistic challenges they didn't want to deal with in Quebec...
Meanwhile the two new Alberta FCs will service the Prairies and BC. Makes sense geographically -- and the fact that Lower Mainland Real Estate is the priciest in the country.
