Amazon does not allow sellers to charge a restocking fee when buyers receive a used or damaged item. While that makes sense in theory, millions of malicious buyers have learned that if they make a false claim of receiving a used or damaged item, they can return a product that they damaged themselves, an empty box, or a box of rocks, and get a full refund, with the seller having no recourse to charge a restocking fee.
How can us sellers protect ourselves when a buyer fraudulently declares their product was "used or damaged" in order to game the return system?

Refunds done at first scan, I get damaged unsellable product back and get 1.43 on safety claim * not even return ship because abusive buyer broke item and choose item defective. Yeap it is not it was not broken when it arrived because you would have filed right there. That did not even cover the cost of the item, shipping or supplies use. not even to mention time. And then look for that upcharge in shipping 35 days later that you can NOT appeal after 14 days.
