Does Amazon Canada collect the tax and remit it for sellers or do Canadian sellers have to remit it themselves?

Hi everyone! I could not find a straight answer on Google or Copilot for this.

I am a (recently) GST registered seller (I have provided my tax registration number to Amazon) and my Canadian sales (to Canadian customers ) DO show the tax printed on the invoice. Am I to remit this tax myself or does Amazon do it for me? Any differences in the provinces? (I am from Ontario GST registered but not QST registered) Thanks for any assistance !! :) :)

you have to remit yourself. i dono what you mean when you say "you have provided"....... but if you have ENTERED your GST/HST number in the amazon "tax settings" page of your account settings pull down menu...... then the GST collected from customers will start to be forwarded to you........ you can check that by comparing the money you received on a transaction BEFORE you added the number and a transaction AFTER you added the number.........(from the amazon auto confirmation emails you may have saved in your email server)........ and you will see the tax is now coming to you, before it was not...... before Amazon was forwarding it to CRA, now its forwarding it to you........ meaning you have to now forward it to CRA...........

QST will still be forwarded to the Quebec government. Same applies to BC PST.

Manitoba & Saskatchewan provincial sales tax is collected & remitted by amazon directly, seller status does not matter.

BC & Quebec sales tax is handled directly by amazon if you do not have a registration number on file for those provinces.

GST/HST (if on file with amazon) should be collected by amazon and paid to the Seller for the Seller to process. Make sure to keep track of your ITC (Input Tax Credits) to subtract from sales tax owed the government.
