Returned Used and Broken , Buyer Abuse

Curious how other sellers deal with these circumstances.

Customer returns item used , broken, scratched. Clearly abused.

I deal with many issues when the items are still saleable and I will sell locally or in used condition. But when you get something that is returned and is junk. $400 value.

We provide them our return policy when we authorize the return, which clearly states we don't refund customers who return items used and broken.

We also don't provide prepaid shipping labels for returns, so it's up to the customer to pay to return.

If they can provide proof in a video or a picture that an item actually arrived damaged or defective, we do a returnless refund and go after the carrier's insurance for damage.

If they return another item or a used broken item, we don't refund because we haven't received the item back that we actually sold the customer, and if they keep escalating the case, then we let them know we will be reporting this transaction to the RCMP Online Anti Fraud Office for investigation. That usually shuts up the scammers that buys one of our items new and returns an old broken item.

A lot of times they try to return a hazmat/dangerous goods item that is non returnable. Then they file a fraudulent a to z claim that says they didn't receive the item, but we have proof they received the item in Amazon/Seller Messaging and they lose the claim.
