US Tariffs for Canadian Sellers
Hello,
As the new tariffs come into action, how will it affect a Canadian seller shipping to the US?
Our orders are usually under $100 and now since the de minimis no longer applies, how will it affect a Canadian Seller shipping to the US on Amazon?

The customer will be responsible for paying 25% on any FBM orders from Canada. The carrier will have to collect the charges from the customer before delivery.
If your offer to the US customers show no extra duties or taxes, you will be required to prepay before shipping to customer
If the customer refuses the charges, the carrier will return the order to you and you will have to pay the shipping back from the carrier, and provide the customer a refund to avoid an A to Z claim.
If you are using the $800 exemption to ship to USA FBA from Canada, you will have to ensure your customs charges and tariffs are prepaid before arriving at the Amazon warehouse. Your customs broker can handle this.

They will have to now. The $800 de minimis Section 321 shipping exemption that those companies are built for and operate on is gone. They will require a Harmonized Tariff code and Country of Origin.
Likely all companies using cheap US shipping for US labels shipping from Canada is going to have to shut down, as they would have to pay ALL the taxes/duties before that truck crosses the border with your shipments.
We have not used any of those companies today as we have been warned the shipments might be cancelled/turned around under the current system until a new system is figured out (if it ever is).
Our USA shipments from Canada are going out directly with UPS/purolator/Canada Post/Fedex now from our Canadian warehouse with proper declarations to ensure there are no delays to the customer.
