UPDATE: New testing requirements for Clothing storage units effective March 12, 2026
Hello Sellers,
All Clothing storage units listings on Amazon.ca are now required to undergo product testing or test report verification from an approved Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) organization to ensure compliance with safety standards:
* ASTM F2057-19 (Standard Safety Specification for Clothing Storage Units)
* SOR/2021-148 (Formaldehyde Emissions from Composite Wood Products Regulations)
* SOR/2014-254 (Products Containing Mercury Regulations)
And, as applicable:
* SOR/2016-193 (Surface Coating Materials Regulations – CCPSA Lead)
What is a Clothing Storage Unit?
A Clothing storage unit is furniture with drawers (including fabric) and/or hinged doors intended for the storage of clothing, and meets all of the following criteria:
* Height of at least 27 inches
* Mass of at least 30 pounds
* Enclosed storage volume of at least 3.2 cubic feet
* Examples include chests, chests of drawers, drawer chests, armoires, chifforobes, bureaus, door chests, and dressers.
* This policy includes fabric clothing storage units, which were previously excluded.
Things to keep in mind:
* You WILL receive a notice if you have ASINs affected by this policy with instructions by the end of March (you may or may not have received notification already)
* You can only submit a TRF after you receive a document request email notification from Amazon in Account Health.
* All notified ASINs must undergo this verification process, regardless of prior documentation submission or active listing status.
* You can select a provider from the list or request quotes from one or more TIC service providers to compare prices, services, and timelines.
* This policy applies to both new listings and previously approved ASINs. For more information about our policy, go to the Clothing Storage Units help page.
