Can I merge two ASINs under different brand names and keep the reviews?

Hi everyone,

I’ve rebranded one of my products — same product, just a new brand name. I now have two ASINs for the same product:

ASIN A = original listing under Old Brand (hadn't registered brand)

ASIN B = identical product now listed under New Brand (registered via IP Accelerator)

I want to consolidate into one listing under the new brand, but I’m hoping to retain the reviews from the original ASIN. Has anyone successfully done this? Is it possible to merge ASINs with different brand names if the product is otherwise identical?

If yes, what do I need to provide Amazon (e.g. trademark registration, images, proof)? and does Amazon allow the reviews to be carried over?

Thanks in advance — I’d appreciate any advice or experiences.

Hi @Seller_4R4b6spAv6pe6,

Thanks for posting here. It is possible to merge ASINs with different brand names if the products are otherwise identical. However, there are some important caveats to consider:

1. Brand Registry Requirement: ASINs for brands registered in the Amazon Brand Registry can only be merged if the requester is the rights owner of the brand. Per Merge duplicate product detail pages, you can File a request here and include the following information:

  • GTIN (UPC, EAN, ISBN, JAN or other product identifiers)
  • Product brand
  • Package quantity
  • Color, size, fragrance, or other physical attributes

2. Identical Product Attributes: The key product attributes, such as size, color, specifications, etc. must be exactly the same across the ASINs for them to be eligible for merging.

3. No Cross-Brand Merging: ASINs belonging to two different brands cannot be merged, as they are intrinsically different even if the product application is the same. For example, toothpastes from different brands cannot be merged.

So in summary, you can request to merge ASINs with different brand names, but only if you are the brand owner registered with Amazon Brand Registry and the product attributes are identical across the ASINs.

Regards,

- Manny
