New Deferred Transactions policy is going to put us out of business
So I was expecting a payout of $425,000 today. With Amazon's new policy my payout was reduced to only $120,000. So I am out of pocket $305,000 indefinitely and Amazon get's to invest my money. I sure could use that money to invest myself! I am very lucky to have such high sales volume and even luckier to have the cash reserves to absorb this, but it is still going to add up to hundreds of thousands of lost investment grown between now and retirement. If I were younger it could result in a million or more in lost investment income between now and retirement.
How are other sellers, who have less or like in most cases these days, NO cash reserves going to absorb this?
Come on Amazon, this is NOT designed to protect the buyers. It is pure greed! 95% of my orders are FBA, so there is little chance of A-Z claims impacting my account balance in any significant way. Even If I had $20,000 in returns the day after my normal payout amount my balance would cover it. Even smaller accounts that are predominantly FBA would fall into the same scenario.
A class action lawsuit is in order. I will be reaching out to my MPP tomorrow.

It's been like this for a couple years in Canada already. It is not a new policy. We have NET30 and NET60 accounts with our suppliers, and sometimes during booking season we get up to NET120.

The policy change is definitely frustrating for FBA items, wait til you find out Business customers can take up to 30 days to pay by invoice... !!
An average $305k deferred payment at a 4% cost of capital means your cost is $12,200 annually, gulp

Bingo. It's still cash not in your bank account which has a cost of capital attached to it.

We also got hit on this, now need to pay back Amazon with money seating there in the account.

I promise you that there is a department that exists in Amazon whose sole purpose is to think how else can I squeeze third party sellers.

Good for you!
Amazon can surely have poeple like you making sound that you work for sellers concern, but if anyone follows you , it is clearly it is not the case,
do you know why they have put hidden the followers? because there are silent accounts, in this forums, who tracks conversation.
Not even sure what this means, due to it not being grammar correct at all! Sounds like a conspiracy theorist...

I am a little brand and this is going to ruin my cash flow and with shipping costs increasing I just do not know how I will survive this... and still be married after it- Changing the payment process and now this deferred payment situation. I do not remember agreeing to this.

Payments based on delivery date
Hello, Sellers. We see that many of you have questions about the ongoing “DD+7” rollout of reserve settings to the standard reserve period of seven days after delivery date, better know as “DD+7.”
With the change to DD+7, funds from orders are held until seven days after the order delivery date. Some sellers may temporarily have seen their transactions displayed at an account-level reserve, rather than as individual deferred transactions, while we completed rollout of transaction-level visibility to deferrals. This was completed, and did not impact when funds are released. Funds will continue to be released seven days after order delivery date and applied to the available balance as per Payments based on delivery date.
There are report updates in progress, which are discussed here:
By April 30, 2026, we'll update the Date Range Transaction and Summary reports for our US, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil stores. When you request a Transaction or Summary report for a period beginning January 1, 2025, you’ll notice three key improvements:
- All posted transactions are in one place.
- Activity is indexed by posted date.
- You have clear visibility into deferred versus released statuses in same report
We recommend that sellers review and return to the Payment Date Range Transaction and Summary Reports help page, which includes details on the February–March 2026 reporting enhancements rollout. Depending on your account configuration and rollout stage, report behavior may vary.
In addition, the Deferred Payments section of your Payments Dashboard includes the Estimated Transaction Release Date for each order.

Now there was the Canpar tracking not working correctly in Amazon so they delay the payments for 4 days worth of orders for another month on top of this...
We contacted 6-7 times, all the times they come back saying we put it in wrong... It's API and was the same as always, orders before and after work...
We were before building Amazon by funding all the inventory, pay for fees and fulfillment, advertisement, and our money was held in Amazon for 2 weeks at a time... If it wasn't Invoiced.
Invoiced orders they save on the credit card fees as it's bank debits, meanwhile we fund the 30 days from order (even though Amazon gets paid monthly so most of the time would be less than 30 days, but we still need to wait 30 days to get paid for those, for no reason whatsoever.)
Now they decided they want to hold more of our money, pretending it's better for us because now we can get paid in nibbles every single day if we make sure to click pay out every day, and slowly gets pushed back as must be 24h+, not a second before.

There’s no point in making everything so difficult. Sure, Amazon customers are very valuable, but I don’t understand why they’re making the processes so difficult for sellers. With new updates coming every 3–4 months, it’s become very hard to run a sustainable business.
