Yesterday I was quoted $997 to use UPS Amazon shipping for FBA. I could not wait to send the boxes so I used Canada Post at $445.

This same issue happened a few months back, it took a few days to fix, right before it was fixed they disabled "amazon's partnered shipping" option completely, before repairing and reinstating. Seems to be where things are at currently also.

Amazon implemented fee changes on January 15, 2026, which may explain the increase you're seeing:
1. Inbound Placement Fees now vary significantly based on how you split shipments:
- Shipping to 1 location: Highest fees
- Shipping to 2-3 locations: Reduced fees
- Shipping to 4+ locations (Amazon-optimized): No placement fee
2. Fulfillment fees increased by approximately $0.08 per unit on average
Likely causes of your 5x increase:
- You may now be shipping to a single fulfillment center instead of multiple locations
- Amazon may have re-measured your products (different dimensions = different fees)
- Your inbound placement strategy may need adjustment

- Check your shipment creation settings in Seller Central to see which placement option you're using
- Use the FBA Revenue Calculator to verify current fees for your products
- Consider splitting shipments to multiple fulfillment centers to reduce or eliminate placement fees

I was quoted $66 for a small parcel-shipment today. The weight of the shipment was 1.5kg. I have never paid the high amount for any shipment if we compare based on the weight. I am based in Canada. I thought something is wrong with the shipment creation process so I canceled the shipment and ended up shipping with a different carrier.
