Bar Code

Hi I am new to Amazon cellar.

To get FBA I need bar codes for each product? I went to GS1 and Each bar code was $30. I was shocked by the price. So if I need to send 100 unites to Amazon FBA I need to pay $3.000 just for the bar codes?!

I think I am doing something wrong. Please help if you can I would really appreciate that 🙏

You need a new GS1 UPC for each UNIQUE item. Not for each individual.

Think of it this way...you're at a big box grocery store. All the items in the store have barcodes. You pick up a box of cheerios. All of the 12oz boxes of cheerios have the same bar code/UPC. That's what you're buying from GS1.

So if you're going to send 100 units of your widget to Amazon, you make 100 copies of the UPC you purchase from GS1 and affix it to your product.

BUT....let me make a suggestion....that you do NOT do co-mingled/stickerless inventory. Instead use an Amazon barcode (FNSKU label). This does not mean that you don't need a UPC from GS1 (that's what Amazon requires for you to list on the platform), but the product will have an FNSKU label on it.

Does that make more sense? Or did I just muddy the waters?
