When are "sold as set" labels necessary?
I have several products that are going to be listed on Amazon as "(Pack of x amount)" For example, I have a sealed box of dog food that contains 8 units within it. I want the box to be listed as (Pack of 8) and sold as one item. What guidelines or labels should I use? Is it okay to ship multiple boxes within the same package as long as the specified units are the same as the number of boxes? Or should I use a "sold as set" label on each box within the package? Thank you to anyone who responds!

You are missing the first and most important question.
Does the BOX have a different UPC number than the single packs?
Every ASIN needs a unique identifier such as their own UPC number.
If the bags come from the manufacturer and are intended to be sold as single units you will not be able to (in theory) list the box of 8 for sale unless you can convince the company to foot the bill for a new number.

If it is a set of any kind. Ship in as many boxes as you want. As long as the number matches the set. Why would you ship a set of eight in more than one box. If the set is of eight, you are selling has a separate UPC on each item in the set. It sounds like you should sell the items separate. With a variation. Parent and child. Need more info. Nerverlast has made a good point as well. I think you are to vague. Number of boxes vs number of items in set. We are not FBA they label differently.

"Sold as Set" means multiple items in one package that you do NOT want warehouse workers opening and taking apart. That label on the outside of the package means it is to ship as-is.
Your 8-pack will be a carton.
Several "cartons" will make up a case.
I think you are asking if the "Sold as Set" label should be on the outside of the case.
NO.
The case pack will be opened at the destination warehouse you originally send it to and the individual cartons will be removed and sent to various warehouses around the country. There should be no label on the case pack but the box label. The individual cartons need to have the "Sold as Set" label.
