Valid Tracking Rate

So the concern previously was if we would still be able to ship using the oversized letter format which does not provide a tracking number, as it seemed like we might be forced to provide a tracking number. Obviously we can still ship using this method, over having to send the item as a parcel which is far too expensive on cheap items. That said, each time I go to confirm a shipment, it asks for a valid tracking number which I don’t have, so I just click again and it allows me to register that the item has shipped. I noticed tonight though that my valid tracking rate is showing a warning, as each shipment I send with no tracking number is dropping my percentage further. I am well below that percentage that amazon is asking for, anyone figure out a way around this?

At this point VTR over 95% is still optional.
August 9 will have some tracking changes – I’m waiting to see if high VTR becomes a requirement for Canadian sellers on that date.

If using lettermail, you can upgrade to Registered lettermail for $9.75 extra. That gives you tracking and $100 insurance.

Amazon should offer an opt-out for tracking, as the 2nd click affects the VTR. I too ship oversized lettermail and shipping with tracking at 5x the price would be selling at a loss, every single time. Shipping cost is not dependent on the price of the item but it is with the size of the item. When it is a slightly oversized (width) oversized lettermail, it automatically becomes a parcel at 5x the cost of lettermail.
Notwithstanding the fact this is found to be a stringent Canada Post rule, as the difference in width of an oversized lettermail becoming a parcel can be caused by a few mm more in width/thickness only, Canada Post, many years ago sadly removed the book rate and this now maximum width allowed for a lettermail is unfair especially when comparing actual shipping costs from overseas sellers. So, Amazon just made it even more of a disadvantage with this VTR.
The VTR makes no sense and Amazon should offer an opt-out, as it was before.

I don’t understand… no Canadian business will be able to operate if this applies to them.

Why doesn’t Amazon let us speak to a Canadian representative, someone who understands our country? This is so frustrating.

Hello @jmhartna,

Thank you @dennis_mullin, @academic_books and @gamerudy for your inputs on this issue.

I understand that your valid tracking rate is getting effected.

As per the policy starting August 9th 2021 you are required to maintain 95% valid tracking rate for all product categories shipped from china.

Like @academic_books mentioned orders that have value less than $10 and are shipped using standard mail are VAT exempted.

Please refer to the policy page for better understanding!
Valid Tracking Rate

When Selling on Amazon, Selling Partners are required to provide valid tracking for every order apart from the exempted orders.

I would encourage you to take these points into consideration and maintain your valid tracking rate up to 95% to avoid any disruptions in your account.

Please check the policy and take the necessary steps to get your valid tracking rate metrics greater than 95%.

Feel free to post on seller forum platform for more help!

Regards,
Hermione.

NOW they add the “from China” thing. Just a suggestion to whoever monitors these forums from Amazon:

Perhaps tailor your responses to the de facto question being asked, as opposed to copy/pasting, particularly when you copy/paste PART of an update. Do you have any idea the stress you cause by not delivering this information is the most responsible manner possible?

The vast majority of people on this forum are .ca sellers who are located in Canada, and sell to Canada. So that is the group to take care of first. Anyone shipping from China on .ca likely isn’t on these forums.

My advice to other sellers, disregard any rumored changes until Amazon emails you about them directly.
