How to Send Full Container Load (FCL) to a Single FBA in Canada?

We are trying to ship a Full Container Load (FCL) as a Floor/Loose Load to a single FBA fulfillment center in Canada. However, when we create a shipment, Amazon automatically splits it into three different destinations.

Since Amazon Global Logistics (AGL) is not available in Canada, and there is no option to select Inbound Placement Service (IPS) or FBA Inbound Placement to consolidate shipments, we are unsure how to proceed.

Does anyone have experience or a workaround for sending an entire FCL shipment to a single FBA location in Canada?

Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @Seller_UDzJpkBtQQOKF,

Unfortunately, sending an entire FCL to a single FBA location in Canada is challenging because Amazon's default system distributes inventory across multiple fulfillment centers to optimize delivery speeds for customers.

Here are a few key points from the help pages:

1. The standard approach splits shipments by design (https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/G201074410)

Quote: "By default, when you create a workflow, your inventory may be divided into multiple shipments, each directed to a different fulfillment center. The fulfillment centers are selected based on the products you're shipping and where you're shipping them from. With your inventory spread across multiple fulfillment centers across the country, customers who buy your products can get them delivered faster than they would if your inventory was located farther away."

2. While Inventory Placement Service (IPS) would normally be the solution (https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/G201192970), you've noted it's not available in Canada.

3. Important note about floor loading (https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/G200978420):

  • Amazon prefers palletized shipments for LTL/FTL deliveries
  • Floor-loaded shipments have limited appointment availability
  • Partnered carriers don't accept floor-loaded shipments

Given these constraints, you might want to consider:

  1. Converting your floor load to palletized shipments, which might give you more options
  2. Working with your freight forwarder to handle the split shipments from a single container
  3. Contacting Seller Support to see if they can provide any Canada-specific solutions

Best regards, Michael
