Using operating name or business name for legal entity

As a sole prop Is it possible to use either your: (1) CRA operating name or (2) Provincial business name (as shown on Master Business License) for the legal entity name in your Amazon seller account?

If so, will updating your legal entity to your operating or business name result in suspension and what will Amazon.ca request in regards to documentation? Has anyone done this before?

“legal entity” is what your business is registered as (incorporated name). It may not be the same as a DBA or trade name, but both may be the same.

If you are a sole proprietor, it will usually be your own complete legal name. You can be the sole owner/operator and still operate an incorporated company. In that case, it is the incorporated name. The business name from a business license will usually be your DBA or trade name, which is not the legal name.

Dave,

Do you know any other legal entities I can change to in Canada instead of incorporating? Im a dual citizen and a Canadian corporation would fall under Controlled Foreign Corporation.
