Mistake with Adding a Brand on New ASIN

I went to create a new book with ISBN/ASIN 9781990849046 and when I went to add the product, I selected the incorrect Brand by MISTAKE. Finger and mouse slip, it got overlooked, and the ASIN got created with the wrong brand.

ASIN gets created and we then catch the error. We try to delete the ASIN and create it again after 48 hours under the correct brand but we cannot do that as it conflicts with the obvious incorrect original value.

I contact Brand registry and they say that they can, under no circumstances, change the brand associated with the ASIN.

I show brand registry that the Amazon policy is dang clear and that if I am a brand representative or authorized reseller for the brand, that corrections to the ASIN may be allowed if proof can be provided that there is a mistake that's mis-representing the product to buyers. I've contacted Selling support with the error messsage, the SKU, and the brand that I am trying to update it to which is "Aviation Publishers."

Brand registry keeps telling me that maintaining the incorrect brand is important to the customer etc. Literally, no book have been sold and every other book by this publisher is under the correct brand name except this one.

Can anyone at Seller Support have any sort of common sense and make the change for this ASIN? I have proof from the brand owner, author, and publishers of this book to back me up.

Hey @Seller_DzYtIjtUtDZmL,

I understand your frustration with having the incorrect brand associated with the ASIN 9781990849046. However, as per Amazon's policy, once an ASIN is created the brand cannot be changed. This is to maintain data integrity and prevent customer confusion.

While the policy may seem rigid, it is in place to uphold standards across our vast marketplace. As you noted, the Brand Registry team is unable to make exceptions even with proof of authorization from the brand owner.

I suggest moving forward with a few options:

  • Keep selling under the existing ASIN, doing your best to clarify the actual brand in the title, bullet points and description. Use the brand name prominently to minimize confusion.
  • Consider creating a new ASIN under the intended Aviation Publishers brand, letting Amazon know the original was an error. This would start fresh with accurate brand data. You could then stop selling the original incorrect ASIN if desired. See our help page on Creating New Listings for more details on adding ASINs.
  • Open a case with Seller Support, providing the specifics of your situation. While the policy remains firm, a representative may have additional suggestions on ways to handle this appropriately.

Let me know if you are able to resolve this following these suggestions, if not, more than happy to further escalate.
