New account. Why would Amazon charge $32.09?

Hi, I just started a new Seller account. We are not selling anything yet. Why would Amazon charge us $32.09?

Amazon often defaults you to a Professional Seller Account to get this fee from you. If you don't wish to have a Pro account, go into your Settings and click Downgrade Account. If you have not used ANY tools (including making listings) you can open a case with Seller "Support" and request a refund of the fee, which may or may not be granted.

You can upgrade to Pro later when you are ready to begin selling, if you wish to. Their are advantages to the Pro account, but not necessarily for every seller. You can search the Help section for information about the differences between accounts.

Good luck.

Hi!

If you signed up for the Professional Selling Plan, Amazon charges a monthly subscription fee of $39.99 USD (or the local equivalent) regardless of whether you make a sale or not.

The $32.09 you're seeing might be a pro-rated charge if:

You registered partway through a billing cycle

You’re in a different currency zone (e.g., Canada or Europe)

Even if you haven’t listed or sold anything yet, just having the Professional plan active triggers the monthly charge.

If you're not planning to sell actively right now, you can downgrade to the Individual Plan to avoid monthly fees. You’ll just pay a small fee per item sold instead.

Hope this helps!

If it is for the professional plan I highly recommend just keeping it. Its not hard to sell 20 things a month on amazon and it will help motivate you to sell more
