Buyer returns a different used item but Amazon still offers it for sale
Recently we received multiple similar complaints from buyers who received the wrong item instead of what they had ordered. As a result, we decided to request the removal of that particular SKU to investigate the issue.
As we suspected, someone purchased our product and returned an old, used item that was completely different. And of course was refunded by Amazon... Despite its condition—clearly old and used, and even without packaging—Amazon continued to offer it for sale, whereas all our products are sold with packaging.
I have already created a case with Amazon, and we will most likely be reimbursed for that particular item. But who will reimburse us for the lost sales, the cost of returns, and the cost of removing of all the inventory from the FBA, and shipping it back to FBA? This happened only because of Amazon's failure to mark the old, incorrect item as unfulfillable, and accepting such a ridiculous return in the first place.
Does anyone have any advice on how we can prevent this from happening in the future?

Yes..
1. Have all returns sent directly to you.
2. Don't let Amazon control the back end of your business. Change to FBM selling where you manage your own business.
