Exploiting Amazon's A-Z Loophole: Organized Fraud on the Rise

Hello Everyone:

I previously discussed the A-Z claim in another post, and in this case, Amazon promptly dismissed the seller's appeal without consideration and refunded the buyer (whom I refer to as scammers) from my account, as they have done before.

Even if few people are likely to see my post, I still want to speak out. This buyer is a fraudster exploiting Amazon's loopholes to steal products and hard-earned money from sellers. In this case, a Chinese buyer placed the order, and an Indian recipient was supposed to receive it. The Chinese buyer then claimed they did not receive the package, and Amazon refunded the money from the seller's account without considering whether the package was actually delivered.

This situation has become an organized scam, which is highly distressing. Sellers and recipients are the only ones who care about proper delivery (because the recipient can get an e-bike for free or at a very low price)! I am determined to expose this organized fraud on this forum. It is crucial for sellers like us to have confidence in the fairness and integrity of the Amazon platform.

Ultimately, everyone ends up paying for these scams.

Peace.

This scammer is not even a good liar. Says all in the same sentence that he was not home, but knows somehow that no one rang his doorbell?

I know it's not helpful, but are you requesting signatures for these? That is a high priced item to trust a delivery person to leave sitting at the door like that. Even with a signature, I've read here about scammers winning A-Z, but it might deter some of them from trying it.

It is sad that bots are running the show instead of real people. This is so obviously a scammer when a real person reads it. I'm sorry this is happening to you.

Hello @Seller_B4Dh6mV9EvmSc

Thank you very much for reaching out in Amazon forums, this is Lucre, and I'll be glad to assist.

I understand you're having an issue with an A to Z claim in one of your orders. I looked into what you described as well as the information available in Seller Central and confirmed that the order was delivered on time as per the tracking ID.

I just submitted this for an internal review by our A to Z Guarantee team, they will determine if the impact of your account can be reversed based on the provided evidence.

As soon as I have confirmation from them, I'll let you know.

Regards,

Lucre_Amazon

Did you choose the 'signature' option?

I'd hope so for something this expensive

Signature with atleast the cost of the product insurance..E.g if the product youa re sell cost you $300 and you are selling it for $600,Atleast get insurance for $300 with Signature..Max it will cost you $10-$15

Get a signature, it's the only way to not get scammed. We look at the value of the item, what the item is (some categories are higher risk than others, for example in pet supplies reptile items are problematic) the province it is shipping to (Quebec is very risky) and we look at the last name. It the customer's name originated from a high risk country we get a signature. Period. Call it racial profiling if you want, but it has to be done. Signatures are not cheap and can not be justified on less expensive items, so use FBA for those items, it works great for me.

You are 100% correct that with the Amazon policies so badly skewed towards the buyer that for those who desire it has become easier and easier to scam honest sellers. And I have the numbers to prove it. We sell via our own website & on this platform. The # number of issues we have with buyers when they purchase on our own site as opposed to Amazon is pretty astonishing...

We ship all orders (regardless of what platform purchased on) from our own warehouse and use Canada Post for all shipments. All the products we ship are the same on both platforms

Claims of package not received:

Orders from our own website: <.5% (that's point 5%)

Amazon Orders: approx. 5%

Times a customer has returned a used product in the new product box wanting a refund (positively not the product we shipped):

Orders from our own website: 0

Amazon orders: 3 so far this year (we to refused refund, customer opened A-Z, lost all 3 and lost all appeals)

Wanting to return a product because "performance or quality inadequate":

Orders from our own website: 0

Amazon orders: approx. 2 - 3%

Times we have been required to pre-pay a return:

Orders from our website: 1

Amazon orders: approx. 50% of all returns (Often customers will just just change their mind on their purchase but will use the "performance not adequate" excuse to get the seller to pay for the return. We have had a huge amount of these returns where the product has never been used. How can the performance be inadequate if you never used it?)

These percentages may seem small but based on volume these numbers really add up when you add in the shipping costs for returns

The losses we incur via some form of dishonest behavior by the buyer on our own website is literally next to nothing but are in the thousands of dollars per year on Amazon

I will just add what others are saying here. Pay the extra to get a signature. Things are so bad you may still lose your A-Z's even with a signature but at least you have one other layer of protection.
