Manage holiday settings

The holiday settings widget in Seller Central gives sellers an overview of upcoming public holidays. Sellers can customize them to match their operation schedule and capability.

Seller Central contains a set of predefined public holidays. When estimating shipping date and delivery date, public holidays do not count as operating days. Therefore, if an estimated shipping date or delivery date falls on a public holiday, Holiday settings will push the shipping or delivery date to the next operating day. Sellers who wish to keep handling and fulfilling customer orders on public holidays may override these predefined public holidays and have them count as operating days using the Holiday settings widget in Seller Central.

How to override public holidays in Seller Central

  1. In Seller Central, go to Settings > Shipping Settings.
  2. Click “Edit” next to “Holidays.”
  3. After clicking “Edit,” you should see a list of predefined public holidays. Select the holiday(s) you want to override and count as operating day(s) by clicking the corresponding checkbox(es).
  4. Click Save.
  5. Go back to the Shipping Settings page. The holiday(s) you overrode will be tagged as “set as operating day.”
Remember: The override of holiday(s) applies only to orders placed after saving the change in the Holiday widget. Orders placed before saving the change would not be impacted, regardless of whether the orders have been handled.

How to revert to public holidays

Sellers that have overridden public holidays to operating days can revert these days to public holidays.

  1. In Seller Central, go to Settings > Shipping Settings.
  2. Click “Edit” next to “Holidays.”
  3. After clicking “Edit,” you should see the list of public holidays, including those set as operating days, where the checkbox under “Set as Operating Day” is checked.
  4. Click to remove “✓” in the checkbox to revert those days to public holidays and click Save.
  5. Go back to the Shipping Settings page. The holiday(s) you previously overrode are no longer tagged as “set as operating day.”

Remember: Similar to the override of holiday(s), the reversal applies only to orders placed after you save the change. Orders placed before the change will not be impacted, regardless of whether the orders have been handled.

How holiday settings work with other shipping settings

For offers associated with the manual shipping template, as long as a seller overrides a holiday to an operating day, that day counts as an operating day available for handling. For offers associated with the automation template, when a seller overrides a holiday to an operating day and the day is an operating day for the shipping service that the seller selected, then the day will count as an operating day for the estimated shipping day calculation.

When a holiday falls on a weekend and the seller overrides the holiday to an operating day through the “Holiday settings” widget, that day counts as an operating day, regardless of seller’s weekend operation settings.
