Frequently asked questions

Which FBA fees may be subject to Canadian and Quebec sales taxes, and how will I know?

Amazon ensures that it collects and pays all required tax on services sold to our sellers. The taxability of a fee and the percentage of tax collected will vary based on the following:

  • The types of services that you purchase
  • The Amazon entity providing the services
  • Federal and provincial tax laws
  • The business information that you supply to Amazon, including your federal and provincial registration number, the location of your business, and where an FBA service is performed

Federal and provincial sales tax paid on your seller fees will be shown on each order transaction detail page and in the monthly seller fee invoice issued to your tax document library during the first 10 days of each month.

For more information, go to FBA features, services and fees.

I have a QST registration. How can I provide Amazon with this?

You can add or manage your QST and other tax registration numbers by going to VAT/GST registration numbers.

Can I opt out of using FBA services that may be taxable?

Fulfilment services are performed based on your participation in the FBA program and any applicable taxes will be collected where required.

To manage your FBA settings and minimize FBA service fees by prepping your items before sending to a fulfilment centre, go to your Fulfilment by Amazon settings.

To learn more about prepping your products, go to Packaging and prep requirements.
