Upload inventory using the Listing Loader

The Listing Loader is a template for uploading your inventory on Amazon for products that already exist in the catalogue.

For products that do not exist in the catalogue, first add the products using Add a Product.

Download the Listing Loader template.

Listing Loader features

The Listing Loader enables you to provide listing attributes without product attributes, which are required when using inventory file uploads. The Inventory Loader is recommended as the standard for matching and updates, but you may want to use the features of the new Listing Loader instead.

Listing Loader provides following functionality:

  • Match products in all categories that you are eligible to sell to using a single template.
  • Import data from other flat files greatly reducing manual entry effort.
  • Use a barcode scanner reducing manual entry effort.
  • Match based on standard product-id alone reducing data required to list on
  • Perform product look-up on enabling you to resolve matching conflicts prior to upload.
  • Validate for data completeness greatly reducing upload failures due to input errors.

Eligible categories

You can use the Listing Loader to create or update your listings in the supported categories. Below is a list of supported categories. You may not be eligible to sell in certain categories.

  • Automotive
  • Baby

Important: These categories are enabled for variations. Do not use ASINs as the product ID for variation-enabled categories.

While the Listing Loader can be used by all sellers with a Professional selling plan, the Excel Macros in the Listing Loader can be used only by sellers with MWS credentials. The macros provide optional features that are not required to use the files to submit listing data to Amazon. To obtain MWS credentials, you must be compliant with the requirements set forth in the Acceptable Use Policy and Data Protection Policy, described here. The following sections describe features provided by the Excel Macros

  • For basic matching in all product categories, we recommend that sellers use the Bulk Lookup Macro in the Listing Loader. When using the Bulk Lookup Macro, the Listing Loader will prompt the seller to provide their MWS credentials. The seller must provide MWS credentials each time that the Excel file is opened before using the Bulk Lookup Macro. The Listing Loader will allow sellers to enter information for non-BMVD products, with optional fields such as sale-start-date and is-gift-wrap-available. The Listing Loader does not have fields for sellers to enter BMVD product shipping settings.
  • We recommend the Inventory Loader if your inventory includes BMVD products. In cases where multiple matches are found for a product, however, the Listing Loader may help you resolve this issue more easily.
  • You can also get your credentials when the Listing Loader template is not open, by completing the Amazon MWS registration form.
    1. On the first page, select I want to access my own Amazon seller account with MWS and then click Next.
    2. On the next page, read the Amazon MWS License Agreement, check the box to confirm that you have read it and agree to the terms and click Next.
    3. Copy your credentials from the page that appears, and save them for later use.
Note: If you are using an old version of the Listing Loader template (older than 2020.000), and Bulk Lookup and Product Lookup do not pull any product information into the template, download the latest version of Listing Loader. Note that the Upload File macro is no longer supported as of 1 April, 2020. If you are not sure which version you have, you can find the version number at the top of column B on the Template tab of Listing Loader.

Products not found

There are three scenarios where products are added to the Products not found sheet:

Listing in a category not supported by Listing Loader.

Product lookup, when used in conjunction with a UPC, will add the products to the Products not Found sheet. You must use other tools like the Inventory File Templates or Add a Product tool to add or update listings on the Products not found sheet.

Products already in Amazon’s catalogue do not have UPCs or EANs associated with them.

Product look-up will add your listing to the Products not found sheet. To create a listing for such a product, you must use the associated ASIN as the product-id and set the product-id-type to “ASIN”.

Product is not in Amazon’s catalogue.

Create the product in Amazon’s catalogue using Add a Product.
