Important: If you supply products for sale on Amazon, you must comply with all federal, provincial, and local laws and Amazon policies applicable to those products and product listings.

Examples of permitted listings

If listing a permitted but hazardous item, sellers must ensure they are shipping the item in compliance with Transport Canada requirements and applicable laws.

  • Pesticides that are registered with or licensed by Health Canada (if applicable), are appropriately described and labelled, and are not otherwise restricted
  • Consumer chemical products that are appropriately classified, labelled, marked, packed and packaged, and are not otherwise restricted
  • Fertilizers that are registered (if applicable) with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, conform to prescribed standards, are appropriately packaged and labelled, and are not otherwise restricted
  • Seeds that conform to prescribed standards, are appropriately marked, packed, and packaged, are properly registered with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (if applicable), and are not otherwise restricted
  • Electrical products used in power generation that are properly certified (if applicable), and are not otherwise restricted

Examples of prohibited listings

  • Pesticides that are not registered with Health Canada or licensed by Health Canada (if applicable)
  • Pesticides that do not conform to the conditions of registration (if applicable)
  • Consumer chemical products that are classified pursuant to the Consumer Chemicals and Containers Regulations under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act as:
    • "very toxic"
    • "very corrosive" (unless the product is otherwise permitted under the Consumer Chemicals and Containers Regulations)
    • "very flammable" (unless the product is otherwise permitted under the Consumer Chemicals and Containers Regulations)
  • Fertilizers or supplements that contain destructive ingredients or properties harmful to plant growth when used according to the directions
  • Plants that are considered a pest, is or could be infested with a pest, or could constitute a biological obstacle to the control of a pest, unless prescribed conditions are met
  • Plants that do not meet prescribed import requirements
  • Seeds of a variety that are not registered (if applicable) with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency
  • Generators containing engines that do not conform to emission and other standards under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act and related regulations, and are not appropriately marked and labelled
