Bank Account Information

Amazon uses electronic transfers to pay your sales proceeds to you. Before you can receive payments, your seller account must specify a bank account for us to deposit money into. We cannot transfer funds to a credit card or online payment system such as PayPal.

To avoid payment delays:

  • Your seller account must have a business address associated with it.
  • Your bank account must be located in a country supported by the Amazon Currency Converter.
  • Your bank account information must be up to date.

You can use the Amazon Currency Converter service to register a bank account that is located in a different country from the marketplace where you are selling. See the Amazon Currency Converter for Sellers FAQ for details.

When entering information for your Canadian bank account, you need the following information:

  • Four-digit Institution ID Number
    Note: If your Institution ID is only three digits, you must add a leading 0 to make it four digits. For example, if your Institution ID is 004, enter 0004.
  • Five-digit Transit Number
  • Account Number (4-12 digits)

You can find this information on your cheque. Example:

When entering your information in your seller account, enter:

  • Institution ID Number: 0004
  • Transit number: 10202
  • Account number: 06940234567

Add or edit your bank account information

Whenever you add or change your bank account information, a three-day security hold goes into effect. Fund transfers cannot be initiated until the hold expires. Only the primary account owner can make changes related to payment information.

To add new bank account information to your seller account:


  1. Go to Settings and click Account Info.
  2. On the Seller Account Information page, under Payment Information, click Deposit Methods.
  3. Click Add new deposit method.
  4. Select the appropriate marketplace.
  5. Use the drop-down list to select your Bank Location Country.
  6. Enter the information requested in Where You Will Be Paid.
  7. If you selected a country with a currency other than the marketplace you are selling in, go to Currency Conversion Payment Agreement, click Agreement and read the agreement.
  8. Check the Currency Conversion Payment Agreement box to accept the terms of the agreement.
  9. Click Submit.
Note: To edit your bank account for a marketplace, click Replace deposit method. If you need to edit other bank account information, click Manage Deposit Methods.

Identify your bank account

To update a new payment method, you will need your complete existing bank account number during the verification process.

This serves as an additional level of security to protect you from fraud. By requiring you to enter the complete deposit account number that you currently use, this authentication feature ensures that only authorized users can change methods for receiving payments.

Note: If you do not remember the existing bank account number, call seller support with your registered telephone number for further help to get the bank details reset.
